Colts beat Chiefs 38–31 in the Divisional round

The Indianapolis Colts beat the Kansas City Chiefs 38–31 on the road at Arrowhead Stadium in the Divisional round of the 2003 playoffs on January 11, 2004. It was a one-score game at the finish, decided by 7 points.

The 69 combined points were the most in any game of the 2003 playoffs.

The Colts went 12–4 in the regular season and the Chiefs went 13–3. The Colts had already beaten the Denver Broncos in the Wild Card round. The Colts’ run ended in the AFC Championship Game, a 24–14 loss to the New England Patriots. The loss ended the Chiefs’ season.

In their previous meeting, the Indianapolis Colts won 35–28 on October 25, 2001. When they met again, the Kansas City Chiefs won 45–35 on October 31, 2004.
