Steelers beat Broncos 34–17 in the AFC Championship Game
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Denver Broncos 34–17 on the road at Invesco Field at Mile High in the AFC Championship Game of the 2005 playoffs on January 22, 2006.
The 51 combined points were the most in any game of the 2005 playoffs.
The Steelers went 11–5 in the regular season and the Broncos went 13–3. The Steelers had already beaten the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round and the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional round. The Steelers went on to win Super Bowl XL, beating the Seattle Seahawks 21–10. The loss ended the Broncos’ season.
In their previous meeting, the Denver Broncos won 17–14 on October 12, 2003. When they met again, the Denver Broncos won 31–20 on November 5, 2006.
