Steelers beat Jets 20–17 in the Divisional round

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets 20–17 at home at Heinz Field in overtime in the Divisional round of the 2004 playoffs on January 15, 2005. It was decided by 3 points, a field goal or less.

It was one of two games of the 2004 playoffs to need overtime.

The Jets went 10–6 in the regular season and the Steelers went 15–1. The Steelers’ run ended in the AFC Championship Game, a 41–27 loss to the New England Patriots. The loss ended the Jets’ season.

In their previous meeting, the Pittsburgh Steelers won 17–6 on December 12, 2004. When they met again, the New York Jets won 19–16 on November 18, 2007.
