Saints beat Buccaneers 26–20 in 2002 Week 1

The New Orleans Saints beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26–20 on the road at Raymond James Stadium in overtime in Week 1 of the 2002 regular season on September 8, 2002. It was a one-score game at the finish, decided by 6 points.

It was one of three games of Week 1 to need overtime.

The result moved the Saints to 1–0 and dropped the Buccaneers to 0–1. The Saints finished 2002 at 9–7 and missed the playoffs. The Buccaneers finished 2002 at 12–4 and won Super Bowl XXXVII.
