Steelers win Super Bowl XL, 21–10 over the Seattle Seahawks
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks 21–10 at Ford Field, a neutral site, in Super Bowl XL on February 5, 2006.
The Seahawks went 13–3 in the regular season and the Steelers went 11–5. The Steelers had already beaten the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round, the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional round, and the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. Counting from the 1999 season, it was the franchise’s first Super Bowl title. The loss ended the Seahawks’ season. The Seahawks’ 10 points were their fewest in any game of 2005.
In their previous meeting, the Seattle Seahawks won 23–16 on November 2, 2003. When they met again, the Pittsburgh Steelers won 21–0 on October 7, 2007.
